Dr Courtenay Chase completed her medical degree at the UWI Mona campus in Jamaica. Since medical school, she has had a keen interest in surgery and intends to pursue a career in Plastic Surgery. At present, she serves as the junior research fellow with the Caribbean Colon Cancer Initiative and has a strong passion for evidence-based medicine.

Alike many of her colleagues, Dr. Chase is keen on improving the breadth of studies originating from the Caribbean. The disparity in colorectal cancer mortality in the Barbadian population compared to our neighbouring islands has been noted and she along with her colleagues, have made it their mission to improve the disease burden in Barbados.
